The First Vice Commander plays a central role in strengthening American Legion Post 754 through membership growth, retention, and engagement. Working closely with the Post Commander and Executive Committee, the First Vice Commander develops initiatives to welcome new members, maintain connections with existing members, and foster a strong sense of camaraderie and belonging.
Beyond membership, the First Vice Commander helps coordinate outreach efforts, supports Post activities, and ensures that members remain informed, involved, and connected to the broader American Legion community. The First Vice Commander also serves as a key member of the Post's leadership team and is prepared to assume the responsibilities of the Post Commander when needed.
At its core, the position is about building relationships, honoring service, and ensuring that Post 754 remains a welcoming and engaged community for Veterans.
American Legion Post 754 is unlike any other Post. Located within the New York Athletic Club, membership in Post 754 begins with membership in the NYAC.
Once NYAC membership has been established, eligible individuals may move forward with joining The American Legion and affiliating with Post 754. Those who are already members of The American Legion may request to transfer their membership to our Post.
